Make a difference to older people in your local community and become a volunteer for Breckland Council's Silver Social Project.
The Project is delivering an ambitious programme of daytime events to community venues across Breckland, promoting participation and independent living to older people in rural communities. Until 2020, workshops and performances held by professional artists are taking place in Ashill, Necton, Shipdham, Mattishall, Harling, Dereham, Attleborough, Swaffham, Watton and Thetford. Upcoming Events.
We are looking for a team of enthusiastic and welcoming volunteers to help support events in these areas, ensure the Project reaches its target audience and with our support, to sustain the project's aims beyond 2020.
We are developing two volunteer roles within Silver Social:
SILVER SOCIAL EVENT SUPPORT VOLUNTEER:
There are a number of ways you can get involved in the Project:
As a Silver Social Event Support Volunteer, your role is to act as an advocate for the Project and provide essential support to the Project Coordinator at Silver Social events. You will help set up event space; greet artists and participants at sessions; organise refreshments and help to clear down and collect evaluation data and feedback after an event. This role is an opportunity to gain experience in event organisation and to develop new skills within a community project. You will also have the opportunity to watch world class arts performances – for free!
SILVER SOCIAL VOLUNTEER PROMOTER:
As a Silver Social Volunteer Promoter, your role is to act as an advocate for the Project and help promote Silver Social events in your area. Using both traditional and online methods, this will be done through the distribution of publicity material; word of mouth recommendation and promoting activities at local clubs and groups, as well as sharing online content through social media and event listing websites. This role is an opportunity to gain experience in event promotion and organisation, with the potential to join a wider network of volunteer promoters running your own events, in partnership with Creative Arts East.
To support the Project with any of the above, get in touch!
Volunteering for the Silver Social is an unpaid position, but is an opportunity to gain experience on a nationally recognised arts project, with the potential to develop your own community programme. Travel expenses will be covered.
Approximately 3 – 5 hours a month (flexible). Exact days dependent on programming schedule.
